Oct Barrel with original sights and excellent Remington address markings. Measures a little over 1” at the receiver and 7/8” at the muzzle ,numbered 4701. The Serial#4701 matching 12,000 mfg’d and made between 1868 and 1888 probably puts this rifle in the late 1870’s when they were still shooting off the buffalo from trains. The bulk of the sales were probably early on in production as they copied sharps calibers as they were the most popular gun at the time. The receiver has the Patent date markings on the left side. Metal overall has a aged grey brown patina finish with no pitting and sharp edges showng little use. Has bright blue under the forarm.
